The new Party Search Menu is working
I just made 5 transactions in about 10 minutes:
someone advertising for Ghial - sold mine for 12k
someone advertising for nec tomes - sold 10 for 5k
someone advertising for green monk staff - sold one I had in storage for 5k
someone advertising lockpicks - bought 20 for 25k
someone advertising for ele tomes - sold 2 for 1.4k
All this was done by scanning Party search in Kamadan, followed by a quick whisper a quick barter and a quick trade.
I've never had such an easy time trading. Of course, it's always easier to sell to a buyer using "WTB" than selling your own stuff with a "WTS," but I have to say the new party search functionality seems to have made trading a lot easier.
I don't know if it's quite hit critical mass, but it's getting there.

It helped the trade spam a ton and so much easier to browse that then to have to scroll back through things looking at everything said in chat.

How does this represent even remote proof that the new party search system works. Sure people are using it. I doubt that number will grow, and you can do the exact same thing in Trade Chat, in a literal sense, word restrictions and all.

It's better than before, but I don't get why it has to say 'Party Search' in front all the time. It's so unnecessary.

I rarely use party search for trades. I might give a quick scan but people are using W T S and WT.S to avoid the party search filter. That, and people even do that in ALL chat. Makes me wish there was a /slap emote.

It's quite simple, the more things get posted in PS, the more things that will get traded through it. I've talked to lots of people that say the first thing they do when they enter the trade cities is check out the PS window (even before the update). And I've made several sales by doing just that, even more now that there are ads in PS. I see a WTB ad, pm the buyer, and either make a quick sale or find out the person has already gotten what he/she was looking for.
Those things the OP listed have always easily fit into the PS window (greens, tomes, and keys). It gets complicated when you need to give the stats when selling things. I won't go so far as to say that it's working well. But it is working better than it did before the change.

I found this especially amusing, before the current change the mantra was it wasn't used because no one knew it was there. Now we see many going out of their way to avoid it. At worst it is one more place for the message to get out. One of the main reasons I find this amusing was the vehemence and insults thrown at those of us who thought otherwise (not to mention the changed stories - those of us who said thusly are still idiots though, just now for different reasons).
Ah well, I can understand the text limitation irritation especially when trying to sell something and I can understand just not really caring, but I can't see going out of your way to avoid having it automatically added - it is not like even in the cases it goofs up your message you are beholden to it.
It has been a while since I even bothered with the trade channel to purchase something (well before the current anti-spam stuff in local, even then I refused to purchase from someone spamming in local) - open the party search and see, go to another outpost if it is not there. There are WAY to many messages scrolling by and take too much effort to find most trivial things in chat. I can peruse the party search at my leisure, but apparently I am in the minority. Hopefully more will start to use it when they want to purchase something too.

I use W T S, when selling stuff which needs more information, weapons and shields, because if I put on all the information and price, it doens't fit to the party search. There's not just simply enough letters allowed.

Whenever I buy something now, I just scan party search. Scrolling up and down chat - or sitting there waiting for something new to appear, is horrible. I don't want to waste time. Scanning party search for something is quick and easy, and if something is cut off, I PM for more information.

I love the party search feature, it makes both trading and looking for groups much easier. I hated having to try and scroll upwards through a constantly move trade chat window, it's just a lot easier to see everything now.
I know some people would like more space, but I don't think it's that unnecessary. If you just give the name of the shield, for example, anyone who's interested in buying it is going to ask to see it first anyway.

It's called advertisement Why do we have a GW:EotN login screen while we don't even have GW:EotN ? Cause its advertisement , free one too, the more you see it the more likely you are to buy it, in this situation the more you see "party search" the more likely you are to use it, at least thats the idea.

Well, there is one definite advantage: when you zone in, you can have quick glance at party search window and see most of stuff advertized in town before you were there, that manes that you can scan for good deals and leave immediatelly for another city.
not that i do it thou, people with better items or more items avoid trade chat because text limit means that advertizing text is too short to contain all the needed info and price as well.

Still needs longer string limits, but yes, it does appear to be helping a little.

Well its fine for selling or buying greens or generic cheap nf stuff. But its still impossible to advertise certain things in it, with proper price/mods included. Ill still use WT S/B mostly unless it changes.

Is ANet even trying to fix the short-length issue of Party Search messages, that with the new filtering system is now even making its way into the normal chat instead of just the Party Window? Are they simply ignoring the message-length problem and hoping the whining about it stops? Has there been ANY word on this, other than it's "impossible" to change?
The idea in principle is great. Problem is, ANet needs to get on the ball and fix the length problem, or remove the recent filtering upgrade altogether. The chat channels are filled with half-length stuff from longer messages getting cut off. It's worse than it was right before the so-called "upgrade" (lol). If we all had mind-reading ability and could accurately advertise with 15-character lines of text, then it would be perfect. As it is right now, with all the trade limitations, we need more space to be allowed to advertise properly. Simple as that.
So much new spam from all the cut-off messages. I can't use common phrases anymore like "lfg" or "WTS", because the message length in normal chat or trade chat has been nerfed if I do use them. It's been "Looking for group" and "Selling" for me. There's one major flaw with filtering messages into the Party Search Window. What if I'm trying to sell more than one thing, like you know, the average seller does because even the old chat message length wasn't long enough to fit a list of more than maybe 4 things (if you don't include stats)? The latest thing I text is what's placed into the Party Search window. Since I'm always re-texting my messages my Party Search window message keeps getting switched. Lot of good that does me.
ANet should try and use the hotlinkable build template sharing window for their trade system. (The window that pops up with a shared build template looks mightily similar to a trade window, don't you think? We can mouse-over skills just like we can mouse-over tradeables in a trade window. Hmmm...). If that could be done, maybe we wouldn't need more advertising space than the new filtering system allows us. Although, it's probably "impossible" to convert the hotlinkable build template sharing window tech for other uses in the game. (We know, we know.)
